Position Purpose

I&C Engineer Power Projects, with engineering experience

Dimensions

• The individual shall prepare Purchase specification (RFQ) for Field instruments, Pneumatic valves, analysers, Hookup materials, cables etc. Shall review technical offers from bidders and shall prepare Technical evaluation report
• The individual shall also handle vendor engineering of instruments, Pneumatic valves, Gas and water analyzers, JB, panels, cable, and other erection hardware related packages. (Note: Experience with GT instruments shall be added advantage)
• The individual shall prepare, revise, and maintain I&C engineering documents such as Instrument specification, instrument list, cable list, cable tray layout, JB schedule, instrument installation drawing and wiring drawings etc.
• The individual shall have experience with the use of instrument database application Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI)
• The individual shall review I&C engineering aspects of mechanical and electrical package equipment (skids and rotary equipment), and their interfaces with DCS.
• He/ she shall participate in factory inspection/ testing of functionality w.r.t. design requirement for various I&C packages such as VMS, Analyzers, instruments, panels and DCS, and also assist in commissioning at Site, and is expected to handle responsibilities independently with minimal supervision.

Principal Accountabilities

Projects Execution Engineering:

• Prepare RFQ and handle Bid evaluation for I&C packages
• Prepare and/ or review I&C engineering drawings/ documents/ inputs including:

-          Cable schedules and cable interconnection charts, installation drawings

-          P&IDs, Instrument List, I/O Lists, panel wiring, Control Logics/ philosophy

-          Various Instrument and erection hardware vendor drawings

• Review of drawings and documents of Mechanical and Electrical vendor packages, panel interface with DCS
• Participate in testing, Support site execution including commissioning from remote or by visiting sites/ deputation to sites

Person Profile

Educational Qualification

• B.E. (or) B.Tech. in Instrumentation & Control Engineering (or) Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering.

Experience

• 3 to 6 years’ experience in the power industry, preferably in I&C engineering roles
• Experience in end-to-end engineering and commissioning activities for I&C systems including SPI experience.

Specific Skills

• Smart Plant instrumentation
• Knowledge of basic process instruments, vibration measurements etc. is necessary. Experience in design and selection of instruments
• Knowledge of construction engineering such instrument installation details and cable engineering, JB grouping etc is necessary.
• Conceptual Knowledge of thermal power plant processes (coal-based, gas-based) is necessary.
• Sound knowledge of local and International standards, codes and design practices related to I&C systems and components.
• Adept in learning and effective usage of engineering and design tools incl. software applications.
• Hands-on experience with MS Access DB and MS Visio will be an added advantage.
• Proactive, self-motivated, and independently handle and discharge responsibilities with minimal supervision and guidance, as an individual contributor and team player.
• Good verbal and written English communication skills

Other expectations

Candidate should be ready to undertake long term/ short term domestic/ international assignments/ deputations to MPW-India sites, Japan or other MPW international offices and also project sites.
