Position Purpose:

Mitsubishi Power-Americas is seeking to appoint a high-caliber Market Research Analyst / Sr. Research Analyst to join the company's fast-growing Power and Energy Transition team.

 

The Analyst will be an important member of Mitsubishi Power Americas’ Market Intelligence and Strategy team, supporting research & analysis, consulting, and market modelling activities in support of the company’s business objectives and thought leadership goals in the Energy Transition space. He/she will focus on Americas Power & Renewables markets and be responsible to produce accurate, timely, analytical deliverables and able to support Mitsubishi Power’s business development activities in the Gas, Solar and Storage markets using Production Cost Modelling tools and Quantitative Analysis

Dimensions

Will be required to help in prescriptive marketing for customers looking for a Net-Zero solution, providing portfolio analytics and decision support to customers and partners – Utilities and power generators.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Lead and conduct qualitative and quantitative research and analysis on Americas Power Markets.
  • Lead the development of outlooks - assumptions development, data gathering and structuring for analytical/ modeling tools
  • Participate in the design and structuring of research presentation/insight papers/data deliverables
  • Prepare reports (presentations/ insight papers/ digital content) with recommendations, visualizations and comprehensive analysis
  • Demonstrate critical-thinking skills to evaluate the quality and relevance of the information. Take timely actions to deliver on research reports (keeping in mind client needs)
  • Identify opportunities and collaborates with other experts in the region/ industry on the execution of complex research topic and forecasts
  • Independently answering client calls and queries while demonstrating a clear ability to identify and address relevant and actionable client concerns
  • Directly supports sales colleagues through presentations in sales-focused meetings/conferences
  • Maintains and utilizes a network of relevant industry contacts, feeding into the analysis, forecasting, business development activities
  • Support in the development of consulting proposals/ concept notes and lead delivery of consulting assignments to meet deadlines and ensures quality

Nature & Scope

  • Demonstrated expertise in/or experience with, Power and Energy markets and trends governing those markets, including, but not limited to: competitive power markets, vertically integrated regulated markets, generation technologies, global new energy research.  Ideal candidates possess a broad background to be able to conduct market trend research while also understanding the technical aspects of various generation technologies including gas turbines, solar projects development and battery storage-new emerging opportunities
  • Customer focused individual, capable of changing perspectives, problem solving, and adapting strategies and actions to the dynamic and changing market conditions.
  • Proven track record in aligning an organization’s activities with corporate strategic objectives
  • Ability to perform regular financial, competitive, performance, and market analyses for the business in order to comprehensively value business opportunities

Person Profile

Educational Qualification

  1. Graduate/ Post-graduate (Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics; and Operational research)
  2. Years of experience 3-6 years
  3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; (strong Quantitative background)
  4. Knowledge of Plexos or any other power/renewables production cost modeling platform
  5. Depth and/or breadth of expertise in the US Power and Renewables US industry is a plus

 

Experience

       2+ years’ experience in a relevant and similar role.

Specific Skills

  1. Good domain knowledge in Power Systems, Data Analytics
  2. Proficient in MS Office and Analytical Skills
  3. Self-starter and execution of all assigned tasks
